Daniel Scott Preuss, 25

Daniel Preuss, 25, passed away at IU University Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana on Monday, July 17, 2023, surrounded by family and friends after a brave and hard-fought battle with cancer.

Daniel was born on July 2, 1998, in Batesville, Indiana as the son of Susan (Chris) Beard and Michael (Laurie) Shutters.

Daniel attended Greensburg Elementary, Junior High and Community High Schools.  He worked for Belle Tire, traveling to different shops across Indiana until being sent to the newly opened store in Columbus, Indiana as an auto mechanic.  He was also starting his own business: Wicked Wrench Auto and Roadside Assistance, LLC.

Daniel was engaged to be married to Cyndi Thompson and she survives.  Daniel was a hard worker who did his best to provide for his family.  He enjoyed working on cars and trucks, riding trails, getting muddy, and spending time with family and friends.  Daniel treated his friends as family.  He used to say that he doesn’t have many friends, but he has more family than anyone.

Daniel is survived by his fiancée, Cyndi Thompson; children: Ariana Preuss, Ryker Thompson, Emma Preuss and Chevelle Preuss; mother: Susan (Chris) Beard, father: Mick (Laurie) Shutters; sisters: Kesha Jones, Tasha Rouse, Cali Secrist, and Summer Secrist; brothers: Evan Beard, Charlie Beard, Lyle Secrist, Jesse Shutters and Ellis Shutters; grandparents: James and Kathleen Preuss, Dan and Becky Barker, Shirley Brown, Stephen and Gayle Beard; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; as well as great-grandmother, Margaret (Peg) Hash.

Daniel was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Patrick Shutters and Denny Brown and grandmother, Sally Hobbs.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, July 24, 2023, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg.  Services will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at 11:00 am at the First Christian Church in Greensburg with Pastor Ray Sweet officiating. There will be an additional hour of visitation before the service from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.  Burial will take place at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Greensburg.
