Cynthia A. “Cindy” Reed, 73, of Brookville, Indiana, passed away Monday, June 15, 2026, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family and close friends. Born January 24, 1953, in Batesville, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Wilbur H. Crawley and Mary Ann (Lang) Crawley. She was a veteran of the United States Army. Cindy was a nurse and worked for over 40 years at Elsie Dreyer, Brookville Healthcare Center, and its successor, Envive of Brookville. In her leisure time, she enjoyed being with family, reading, taking sister trips, and boating at Brookville Lake.
Survivors include two sons, Gary Allen Burgess of Illinois and Nathaniel James Burgess (Jennie) of Brookville, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Mikayla Sanchez, Kelsi Atkinson, Dakota Burgess, Autumn Burgess, Gary Burgess, Raven Burgess, and Jacob Burgess; and nine great-grandchildren, Serenity Sanchez, Desmond Sanchez, Mason Sanchez, Matthew Sanchez, Rylee Nixon, Nathaniel Burgess, Rykker Nixon, Presley Simmons, and Bristol Nixon. Also surviving are nine siblings: Monica Lee Fritsch (Nick) of New Alsace, Indiana; Edward Martin Crawley of Brookville; Phillip Allan Crawley (Tamara) of Brookville; Mary Elaine Back (Daren) of Sunman, Indiana; Laura Lynn Hoog (Darrell) of Brookville; Brian Joseph Crawley (Pamela) of Brookville, Indiana; Lisa Marie Carr (Vince) of Phoenix, Arizona; Michael John Crawley (Julie) of Guilford, Indiana; and Barbara Carlisle Arnold of Louisville, Kentucky. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two siblings, Wilbur Harold Crawley and Theresa Lynn Crawley.
Private services will be held by the family. Burial will follow at Holy Guardian Angels Cemetery in Cedar Grove, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to Brookville Town Park.
