Cross Plains man among 20 arrested in Johnson County child sex sting operation

Johnson County, IN — A Ripley County resident was one of 20 men arrested during a three-day child sex sting operation conducted in Johnson County where police posed online as children.

Investigators say 59-year-old Mark Alan Adams of Cross Plains and the others were allegedly hoping to have encounters with minors.

Adams has been charged with child solicitation, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and making an unlawful proposition, and is free on bond.

Investigators say suspects brought alcoholic beverages, illegal narcotics, and firearms to the meeting location that was set up as part of the operation.

Authorities say some of the men traveled from as far as Alabama and Washington State to have sex with minors.

The arrests came following a joint operation conducted by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office and the City of Franklin Police Department.
