Craig E. Schutte, 40

Craig E. Schutte, 40, of Greensburg, IN, passed away at his home on December 23, 2023.  Craig was born on October 9, 1983, in Decatur County, Indiana.  Craig is survived by the love of his life, Charlene M. (Schmitz) Schutte and their two beautiful daughters, Taylor M. and Kennedy M., of Greensburg, IN. Destiny brought Craig and Charlene together in 2002. They were married on November 9, 2009, in Gatlinburg, TN.

Craig is also survived by his parents, Raymond L. (Reva) Schutte, of Brookville, IN and Teresa L. (Sam Campbell) Schutte of Greensburg, IN; siblings: Jeff (Barb) Hatton of Greensburg, IN; Mike (Melissa) Hatton of Columbus, IN; Brooke (Jerry) Hughes of Columbus, IN; Jeremy (Amy) Schutte of Dallas, TX; and Shasta (Chad) Shiner of Nashport, OH. Other survivors include maternal grandma, Alma Vanderbur of Greensburg, IN; father-in-law, Ken Schmitz of New Weston, OH; brother-in-law, Mike (Christie) Schmitz of Montzeuma, OH; and sister-in-law, Stacy Dorko of New Weston, OH.  Craig is survived by several nieces and nephews. Craig was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Raymond and Irene Schutte; maternal grandpa, Edgar ‘Eddie’ Vanderbur; and brother-in-law, Bruce Schmitz.

Craig was a 2002 graduate of Greensburg Community Schools and a 2005 graduate of The University of Northwestern Ohio.  Craig was employed by Sam Campbell Enterprises for over 20 years.  Craig’s passion was riding four-wheelers with his friends and family.  You could often find Craig in his garage late at night tinkering on one of his many quads.  Nothing gave Craig more pleasure than passing his passion on to Taylor and Kennedy, providing them each with their own quads and teaching them to ride. Craig’s passion and commitment to his family was immeasurable, especially for his daughters. Craig experienced great joy in the camaraderie that came from bringing his family and friends together to share his love of outdoor activities.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2023, from 4-8pm at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg. A funeral service will take place on Friday, December 29, 2023, at 11am, also at the funeral home.

Memorials can be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or to Craig’s children in care of the funeral home.
