COVID-positive case numbers drop around the area

BATESVILLE, IN — Margaret Mary Health officials say team members have had some much-needed relief this week from the recent COVID-19 surge brought on by the Delta variant.

Both Ripley and Franklin counties saw a decrease in the COVID seven-day positivity rate over the last week. Ripley County remains in Orange on the state metrics map, although the COVID seven-day positivity rate dipped to 9.71%. Franklin County’s advisory level changed from Red to Orange this week, and the positivity rate went down to 12.56%.

Decatur County has moved from Orange to Yellow on the state map, while Dearborn County remains in Yellow.

Margaret Mary Health continued to see a decline in overall patient volumes, with a significant drop in COVID-positive patients. The hospital currently has 19 patients on the Medical/Surgery floor, and zero patients in the Special Care Unit. Only four patients are Covid-positive. The overall percentage of admitted patients since August 1 who were unvaccinated remains steady at 84% (Please see charts for more details).

Testing for COVID-19 decreased from the previous week, and the hospital’s positivity rate declined substantially, with 22 patients testing positive and a current positivity rate of 14.0%. (Please see chart for more details on testing results)
