Council expected to approve KDF funding next month; votes to boost hourly EMS pay

Batesville, IN — Batesville City Council held the first reading of an ordinance to help with funding for the $4.4 Million Kids Discovery Factory building renovation and expansion project. Plans call for educational exhibits and program space at the facility planned for the corner of Sycamore and South streets downtown. While Council did not vote on the plan, they are expected to give formal approval to fund the city’s portion of the project next month.

Council also approved changes to the 2021 salary ordinance. The hourly wages for EMS personnel were increased from previous proposals. Struggles to hire EMS personnel around the area played a major role in boosting that hourly rate.
