South Decatur’s Hunter Johnson was named the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association Player of the Week for January 10-15.
Last Friday night against North Decatur, Johnson scored 34 points which included an 11 of 13 effort at the free throw line and eight rebounds.
Then on Saturday against Southwestern Shelbyville, the 6-2 senior set a single game scoring record for both the Cougars and Decatur County with 53 points. He made seven three pointers, which is also a school record, nailed 12 of his 13 charity tosses and collected 12 rebounds.
The past record of 52 points was held by Dale Muckerheide, Clarksburg vs. Cross Plains, February 8, 1966.
This is the second time this season, Johnson has been named an IBCA Player of the Week for District 3.
