(Versailles, IN) – The Sam Copeland South Ripley Alumni Benefit will take place on September 29 from 1-4 p.m. at Tyson Activity Center in Versailles.

Proceeds benefit Copeland’s widow Amy and their two daughters, Lauren and Cierra, to help defray medical bills and funeral expenses.

Sam Copeland was the Brown Township Trustee and former basketball and track and field star at South Ripley High School, Class of 1992, who passed away last month at the age of 50 following a lengthy battle with cancer.

A number of South Ripley basketball alums have signed up to play.

The benefit is open to the public and organizers say you’re welcome to stop by, get something to eat and perhaps make a donation.
