(Brookville, IN) – Construction on the Franklin County 4-H Association Expo Hall at the fairgrounds in Brookville is progressing quite nicely, according to those overseeing the project.

“At this time, I would consider the building 85% done,” said Franklin County Fair Board member Brian Baxter. “The general contractors – there’s too many to mention right now – everybody’s working well. We’re very pleased with the way the expo hall is turning out…the design, the features we put in it.”

Baxter says, once it opens, the expo hall will be available for use throughout the year.

“I feel that the Franklin County 4-H Association has done a great job, going around and investigating other similar buildings and that we have come up with a facility that’s going to be useable for the 4-H Association, other outside entities in the community, and for the future purpose of renting of the structure out.”

These would include for weddings, family and class reunions and other similar events. Baxter says you can contact the fair board for rental inquiries.

The inside features seating for up to 800 people; a concession stand; state-of-the-art restrooms, and heating and air conditioning.

As for funding, Baxter says they are about $30,000 within the goal due to cost increases. Anyone who wants to donate can contact Baxter or any member of the 4-H Association.

Community members, non-Franklin County residents, and local businesses have donated to the project.

They hope to have the expo hall ready to go and opened in time for this July’s Franklin County 4-H Fair.
