GREENSBURG, IN — The 2022 Decatur County Fair ended Wednesday night with a Franks and Beans Eating Contest to celebrate National Beans and Franks Day.

Competitive eater Michelle Lesco ate 5.34 pounds of Van Camp’s Pork and Beans in three minutes to defeat three male City of Greensburg first responders – Assistant Fire Chief Brian Wenning, Police Officer Casey Jones, and EMT Jeremy Haley.

Lesco is the 2021 Women’s Champion in the Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest at New York’s Coney Island.

Her “day job” is teaching 8th grade Math in Tuscon, Arizona.

Indiana Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch visited the fair and served as the competition’s judge.

The event’s emcee was 103.9 WRBI’s Brent Lee.

It was the 25th special event held in conjunction with this year’s Decatur County Bicentennial.

Gilbert Van Camp, the founder of Van Camp’s Pork and Beans, lived in Greensburg from 1845 until 1860 before he moved to Indianapolis and started the famous brand.
