BRIGHT, IN — The Sunman-Dearborn Community School Corporation has announced Michael Collier has been selected to be the new Principal at Bright Elementary School.

He succeeds Dr. Daryl Werner, who is leaving Bright Elementary to take a consulting position.

Collier earned his Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Franklin College, and his Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Ball State University.

He has spent his entire career as a teacher at Hawthorne Elementary School in Warren Township in the Indianapolis area teaching 1st, 4th, and 5th grade, and is the recent winner of the Hawthorne Elementary School Teacher of the Year.

Collier, his wife Sarah, and son Andrew are looking forward to moving to the area.

“I am excited to bring Michael to our district. He has had a successful career as an elementary school teacher. His recent experience in the classroom will provide a valuable resource as we move forward with our strategic plan and focus on core instruction and curriculum,” said Superintendent Dr. Andrew Jackson.
