
Cole Kendall Gaylord, 27, of Rising Sun, passed away surrounded by the love of family and friends. Though his time on earth was far too short, the impact he made on those around him will last forever. Cole attended South Dearborn High School, where he was involved in wrestling and played football. Those who knew him remember his determination, team spirit, and the strength he carried both on and off the field. He later dedicated more than six years of hard work to JL Construction, where he was known as a dependable and hardworking employee.
Cole was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back. He had a heart of gold and a smile that could light up any room. His kindness, generosity, and genuine spirit drew people to him, and he was loved by many. He enjoyed the outdoors and especially loved fishing. but above all else, Cole cherished time spent with his family. His greatest joy in life was being a father. He deeply loved his children and treasured every moment with them and his fiancé. He was an amazing fiancé. devoted father, loving son, brother, uncle, cousin, and loyal friend.
Cole is survived by his beloved fiancé, Kaiya House, his three sons, Canen, Kade, and Zander, and father-in-law Dan House. He is also survived by his mother, Sheri Hartmann; his brother, Jesse Hartmann and wife Cristina, along with their children Haden, James, and Wyalt; his sister, Bekah Taylor and Jeremy, along with their children Tre, Kasyn, and Knox: and his brother, Marcus lles.
He is also lovingly remembered by his uncles and aunts: Lee Hartmann and wife Gina, and their children Jordan and Morgan Hartmann, along with Josie and Keith Schornick: Chris Hartmann: Jenny and Ray Hartmann, and their children Dalton, Kaylee, and Mandy. He is further survived by nephew Nathan: cousins Candi, Nevaeh, Haylee, Christopher, Kayla, Brianna, Tanner, and many more family members and friends who will forever hold him close in their hearts.
Cole was preceded in death by his father, Mark Gaylord; his sister, Sarah Gaylord; his grandmother, Ina Lawton; and his uncle, Mike Gaylord. Cousin Zachary Hartmann
Cole’s life was a testament to love, loyalty, and family. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” — John 3:16 Though he may be gone from our sight. Cole’s love, laughter, and spirit will remain with us always.
Family and friends may gather in remembering Cole from 5:00-7:00 PM, Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at the Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan. Services will follow at 7:00 PM. Memorials may be given in honor of Cole to Kaiya House.
