With the Batesville CYO Deanery Championship on the line and a battle between the 2 St. Louis’ teams, this would be a very exciting game. In the end, St. Louis-1 would claiming the title with a 57-44 victory.
St. Louis-2 jumped out to an early 8-0 lead but St. Louis-1 would battle back to take a 15-14 lead after the 1st quarter. The 2nd quarter saw both teams battle back and forth and St. Louis-1 would take a 27-21 lead at halftime as Alex Westerfeld would hit a last second 3 pointer at the buzzer. ‘I thought that was a big shot that would give us momentum going in at half. St. Louis-1 was hoping to build off the last second shot to end the first half but St. Louis-2 would not allow that happen.’ Bruins Coach Roger Dietz.
Both teams would continue to battle each other in the 3rd quarter and St. Louis-1 would end up only outscoring St. Louis-2 by 2 as Jason Dietz would make a layup on an inbound with 6 seconds left in the quarter. In the 4th quarter St. Louis-1 would finally be able to pull away a little to secure the win and take home the 2019 Batesville CYO Batesville Deanery title. ‘I knew going in it would be a hard fought game and it proved to be that way. I am proud of the way this team played all year and this was a great way to finish the season.’ Bruins Coach Roger Dietz.
