CN Tops Batesville In The Battle Of The Bulldogs

Batesville fell 6-2 to Columbus North on Tuesday despite out-hitting them six to two.

The Batesville Bulldogs opened up scoring in the first inning, when Riley Zink doubled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run.

Columbus North pulled away for good with three runs in the third inning. In the third, Austin Bode singled on a 3-1 count, scoring two runs and Kyler McIntosh singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

Columbus North scored three runs in the fifth inning. Columbus North scored its runs on a walk by Reese Harmon.

Luke Harmon was the winning pitcher for Columbus North. The hurler surrendered two runs on six hits over seven innings, striking out six and walking zero.

Jacob Meer took the loss for Batesville. The righty surrendered six runs on two hits over five innings. Travis Lecher, Calvin Sherwood, Sam Voegele, Jack Grunkemeyer, Zink, and Cole Werner each collected one hit to lead the Bulldogs.

Batesville falls to 4-2 overall on the year. They look to improve their record in the EIAC matchup against East Central on Thursday. The Bulldogs are currently 2-1 in the EIAC.
