Clyde Lemen, 83, Holton

Clyde Lemen, 83, of Holton passed away at 10pm, Sunday, November 27, 2022 at the Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville. He was born at the Whitlatch Clinic in Milan on July 23, 1939, the son of J. Leslie and Madge Bemish Lemen. Survivors include two nieces Debbie Lemen Bishop and Janet Lemen both of Bloomington. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers Dwight Lemen and Wayne Lemen. Mr. Lemen was a 1957 graduate of Holton High School. He received his Bachelors of Science degree in education from Ball State University and later received his Masters Degree from Ball State. He taught in the Blackford County (Hartford City,IN) Schools from 1961 until his retirement in 1992. During that time Clyde coached elementary basketball, served as assistant principal at the William Reed School, and became principal at Northside Elementary in 1967. Clyde enjoyed playing tennis, was known for his impeccable manners, and those closest to him appreciated his wry wit. He was strong of faith, and was often a little late for family holiday gatherings because he would be delivering meals to homebound persons in surrounding areas. Clyde was a member of the Holton Christian Church. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, December 1 at 1pm at the Holton Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Holton Cemetery in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles.
