‘Cleansburg-Greensburg’ prepares for Stellar Committee

Greensburg, In. — Greensburg residents are organizing a “Cleansburg-Greensburg” event for Saturday, September 30. Volunteers are asked to me at the parking lot at the corner of Main and Franklin Streets at 9 a.m. and be ready to cleanup downtown.

The Greensburg Chamber of Commerce is organizing the event in preparation for a visit by the Stellar Communities Committee on October 3. Board member Susan Burkhart says even if you can’t participate in the event to do what you can to pick up trash and litter wherever you can prior to the inspection.

Greensburg is competing with Madison and Vincennes for the honor.

Launched in 2011, the Stellar Communities Designation Program is a multi-agency partnership designed to recognize Indiana’s smaller communities that have identified comprehensive community and economic development projects and activities as well as next steps and key partnerships. Winning the designation make the city eligible for very valuable grant programs.
