Clarence Jansing, age 92 of Brookville

Clarence L. Jansing, of Brookville, was born on October 25, 1932, in St. Mary’s, Indiana a son to Richard and Bertha Kruthaupt Jansing.  He was a veteran, serving his country in the United States Army. Clarence married Laverne Rosfeld at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in 1955 and they shared almost 70 years together and raised five children.  He owned Jansing Refrigeration, retiring when he was 85 years old. Clarence considered farming one of his favorite past-times – for 69 years!  He and Laverne did everything together and they especially loved family gatherings, camping, fishing, butchering, and gardening.  Clarence was a life-long member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, and a 50 + year member of the St. Leon American Legion and the Brookville VFW.   He enjoyed volunteering and took pride in his time helping at St. Peter’s Parish.  On Sunday, January 1, 2025, at the age of 92, he passed away at his residence with family by his side.

Those surviving who will honor Clarence’s memory include his wife, Laverne Jansing; four children, Sharon (Jim) Bartlett, Randy (Dottie) Jansing, Sandy (Tim) Collins, and Shelley (Roger) Schnur; 10 grandchildren, Nicholas (Brianne) Riedman, Andrea (Curtis) Gillman, Shawna (Ryan) Fackey, Rochelle (Derek) Heis, Chris (Amanda) Jansing, Melody (Brett) Feller, Michael (Hayley) Jansing, Bridget Collins, Courtney (Dustin) Parks, and Cassidy Schnur; 24 great-grandchildren, one sister, Marilyn Smith and one brother, Marc Jansing. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Roger Jansing; one sister, Clarissa Rennier, a 10-day old infant brother, Alvin; 4 additional brothers, Cletus, Irvin, Richard, and Elmer, one brother-in-law and 3 sisters-in-law.

Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, January 4, 2025, from 9 until 11 a.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, with Rosary at 8:30.  Father Vincent Lampert will officiate a Mass of Chirstian burial at 11 a.m. and St. Leon American Legion, Post #464 will provide full military honors in the church cemetery immediately following.
