Clara Janice (Fultz) Hunter, 93, of Greensburg, completed her path to join her Lord and Savior on August 28, 2026. She was born on October 11, 1932, in Greensburg, the daughter of Paul and Dulcie (Alvey) Ryle. Clara was a 1951 graduate of Sandcreek High School. On December 6, 1952, she married Lowell Fultz, who preceded her in death in 1986. On November 26, 1989, she married Harlan Hunter, who preceded her in death in 1999. Clara worked throughout her career at GE Electric, Gulf Plastics, Crown Zellerbach, and James River before retiring from Printpack in 1995.
Clara was a life-long member of her most cherished Union Baptist Church, where she served as teacher, choir member, Deacon, and many other areas where she could serve the Lord through the Church. She and her sisters enjoyed bowling as a team known as the Five Little Angles (also a loving name their father referred to his 5 daughters as) while participating in the Early Ladies League at the Greensburg Bowl. She had a special love for shopping for and collecting antique dishes and dolls and enjoyed spending time at garage sales and hosting many at her home on Ryle Drive. She loved traveling with some of her favorite destinations being Gatlinburg and the Smoky Mountains, as well as trips out West, including the Dakotas and Washington State.
Family was at the heart of Clara’s life. She especially loved hosting/cooking Thanksgiving each year for her entire family and looked forward to celebrating Christmas together on New Year’s Day, so that the children could enjoy their Christmas’ at home. These gatherings created cherished memories that her family will carry with them for years to come.
The family wishes to convey their appreciation for all who cared for and loved Clara at Aspen Place over the past few years and the care she received in the past few months from Our Hospice of Greensburg.
Survivors include: daughter, Janet (Charles) Ford; son, Paul (Lisa) Fultz; step-daughters, Jackie Stephenson, Karen (Steve) Collins and Linda Guenther; sisters, Pauline Gehl, Carolyn Klosterkemper, and Linda Bausback; grandchildren, Keith Wright, Pepper (Aaron) Warriner, Nicki (Allen) Cobler, Milissa (Brad) Ashley, Paul (Katie) Fultz, Jr., Matthew (Anna) Fultz, Megan (Cody Robichaud) Fultz, step grandsons, Matthew Stephenson, David Collins, and Darren (Pat) Collins; step granddaughter Andrea (Michael) Prager; 14 great grandchildren, one step great grandchild; and 2 great-great grandchildren, with 2 great-great grandchildren to be born in the very near future.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; daughter, Louella Weston; sister, Margaret Bostic; great granddaughter, Jorden Cobler; and step grandson, Jason Ford.
A visitation for family and friends will be held at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Funeral service will be on Thursday, September 3, 2026 at 1:00 pm. Rev. Dan Coblentz and Rev. Steve Bell will be officiating. Burial will follow at the Union Baptist Cemetery.
