Cincinnati tops U.S. Oktoberfest destinations

Cincinnati, Oh. — Wallethub.com has named Cincinnati the best city in the country to celebrate Oktoberfest. Things like cost, tradition, accessibility and safety were used to make the determination.

In 2016 the “Oktoberfest Zinzinnati” attracted 650,000 people that consumed more than 80,000 brats. The crowd soaked up more than 2,000 barrels of beer that included 92 different varieties. The event features the annual “Running of the Wieners”, a race of more than 100 dachshunds.

Oktoberfest is time-honored tradition observed from mid-September to the first Sunday in October. The event held in Germany each year attracts more than 6 million people that drink 2 million gallons of beer. The estimated cost for an American to travel to Munich for the big event is $5,000.

Columbus, Ohio was ranked 10th on the list.
