Cincinnati man arrested after traffic stop

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ind. — A Cincinnati man was arrested in Franklin County after a routine traffic stop over the weekend.

Late Saturday night, officers from the Laurel Police Department were working a narcotic detail on Interstate-74 and stopped a car for a traffic violation.

Police smelled an odor of raw marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.

K9 Diablo performed an exterior sniff of the vehicle and indicated to police the presence of a narcotic drug in the vehicle.

During a search of the vehicle, police found marijuana in the passenger seat, inside a closed tin storage can.

According to police, the driver of the car admitted to the officer that his girlfriend had purchased the container from a novelty store in Florida.

The driver of the car, Mark Straughn, of Cincinnati, was arrested on a charge of Possession of Marijuana.
