Cherryle Jo Bourquein, 81, Batesville

Cherryle Jo Bourquein, age 81, of Batesville, Indiana, passed away on October 7, 2026.

The daughter of Russell Stephenson and Jean Heading, she was born on April 27, 1945, in Hamilton, Ohio. Cherryle received her GED, then attended nursing school and received her LPN in 1974. She worked as a nurse in obstetrics at McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital in Oxford, Ohio, for many years before leaving to spend retirement with her beloved husband, Norman. Cherryle and Norman traveled extensively, visiting all 50 states, as well as Canada and Mexico. They always enjoyed seeing new places and spent many winters in the home they owned in Jensen Beach, Florida.

She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in many capacities. Cherryle and her husband also served an 18-month mission for their church in Jackson, Mississippi.

She is survived by her children, Lisa Back (Terry), Renee Watkins (Pete), and James Bourquein; Stephen Bourquein (Micah), Brenda Berry (Dann), and Diane Stroud; her grandchildren, Bradley Back, Kyle Back (Libby), Rachel Back, Kari Roberts (Fred), Laina Bourquein, Cameron Bourquein, David Sawyers, Bryan Sawyers, Billie Newton, and Wyndi Stacey; her great-grandchildren, Paisley, Hadley, Penelope, and Holland Roberts, Charlie and Lou Back, Sam Sawyers, Brianna Sawyers, and Alex, Jenny, Danielle, and Doug Newton; and her siblings, Marla Martineau (Dean), Tammy Elwood (Jim), Sterling Stephenson (Lori), Lyle Stephenson (Lori), Candy Hatch, Rocky Heading, and Mel Giles (Leo).

In addition to her beloved husband, Norman, and her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Bryan Stephenson, one grandchild, and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. All services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Batesville Ward, 422 N. Township Line Road, Batesville, IN 47006. Burial will follow in the Batesville United Methodist Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Batesville Ward, and may be brought to the services or mailed to Meyers Funeral Home, P.O. Box 202, Batesville, IN 47006.
