Charles Thomas Newman, 70, Greensburg, passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at his residence with his loving family by his side.
Born, July 31, 1945 in Greensburg, Indiana, he was the son of Russell and Arvilla (Hornberger) Newman.
Tom graduated in 1963 from Greensburg High School and then served in the Army as a Staff Sergeant. After the military, Tom graduated from Indiana College of Mortuary Science.
He was the former owner / operator of Newman Building Supply in Greensburg. After he closed the business, he worked for Steel Technologies, Inc. then for Sandcreek Counter and Case in North Vernon.
He was a member of the First Christian Church in Greensburg.
He was married to Linda J. Cook on April 29, 1967 and she survives.
He is also survived by one son, Eric (Heather) Newman, Greensburg; three daughters, Stacie Reisman, Greensburg, Jennie (Jeff) Hamilton, Hebron, KY, Heather (Robby) Reynolds, Sunman; one sister, Sharon (Mike) Phillips, Greensburg; ten grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 3 to 7:00 p.m. at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at the funeral home with Rev. Danny Wolford officiating.
Interment will be held in the South Park Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church or to the Kids Closet.
