Charles R. “Bud” Lockwood, 83, of Aurora, IN, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 23, 2025. He was born on February 6, 1942, in Aurora, Indiana son of the late Donald Lockwood and Christina (Carr) Warram.
Charles proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from October of 1960 – October of 1964. He worked and retired from Monsanto/Bayer after 30 years as a chemical plant worker in their shipping and receiving department. After retiring he began working as a Catch-A-Ride driver.
Charles had many passions in life. He was an avid model train enthusiast, particularly enjoying HO scale models. He loved music, especially playing the guitar, and found joy in making the best biscuits and gravy, along with homemade fried potatoes for his family. He loved to cook large breakfasts’ for his family at home or on vacation. He was a fantastic cook. He loved growing his own peppers and tomatoes in his garden. He loved yard work and getting the pool ready for his family each year. His greatest joy came from spending time with his beloved wife, children, and grandchildren.
Charles is survived by his loving wife, Peggy (McKain) Lockwood; his son, Steve (Amy) Lockwood; daughters, Angie Konya, Stacie (Bill) Stevenson; grandchildren, Kalicia (Justin) Peacock, Maddie (Carlos) Flores, Miles Stevenson, Amber Kippler, Amanda Kippler; thirteen great-grandchildren: Gavin, Bella, Tristan, Malibu, Blaze, Mason, Tanner, Evaleigh, Brogan, Davidson, Jamison, Braison, and Waylon; siblings, Bobby Ascherman, Charlene Whisman, Cheryl Meister; many nieces and nephews; other family members, the Tillman family, Melvin Kremer and Christie Whisman; and extended family member, Ben Russell; Charles also loved to have his fur grandbaby, Sage, over for visits and overnights.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Lockwood and Christina Warram, and his sister, Donna McCool.
Friends will be received on Thursday, March 27, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the Rullman Hunger Funeral Home, 219 Mechanic Street, Aurora, Indiana. Services will be held immediately following at 2:00 pm.
Interment will be in River View Cemetery, Aurora, Indiana. Military services will be conducted by members of the Southeastern Indiana Color Guard.
A small reception will follow at the Aurora Fire Station.
