Charles Andrew Boyd, 77, passed away on Friday November 17, 2023 at Ripley Crossing in Milan, IN following a battle with Alzheimer’s.
Andy was born in Milan, IN on September 6, 1946, the son of James Edward Boyd and Joyce Leasure Miller Boyd, who preceded him in death. Survivors include one sister, Joyce Ellen (Don) Call of Milan, nieces Rachel (Tim) Schwipps of Milan, Erin (Michael) Boyce of Lawrenceburg, and great nephews Ethan Schwipps, Cameron Boyce, Trey Boyce, and great niece Riley Schwipps. Also surviving is girlfriend Sandy Bulmer of Batesville, and one brother, James (Sharon) Boyd of Indianapolis and family.
Andy grew up in Milan and joined the United States Navy after graduating in 1964, serving from 1964-1967 on the USS Roosevelt stationed off the coast of Vietnam. He moved to Florida working for Mac Tools until retirement, and then Oxford, Mississippi, where he owned an organic blueberry farm. He moved back to Milan in 2015 to be close to family and friends. Andy loved to travel, sail boats, woodworking, golfing, fishing and hunting. He was a member of the Milan American Legion Post 235 and the United Methodist Church.
In keeping with his wishes, his body is being donated to the University of Cincinnati Medical School for research. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday November 21, 2023 at 11 am at the Milan American Legion Post 235 with military honors. Memorials can be made to the Milan American Legion Post 235 in Andy’s honor.
