Chargers Come Up Short Against Pirates In The Battle Of Decatur County

The North Decatur Chargers Baseball team watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 12-2 loss to Greensburg on Tuesday. The Pirates scored on a triple by Toby Brogan and a triple by Corbin Mathews in the first inning.

ND struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Greensburg, giving up 12 runs.

In the first inning, The Pirates got their offense started when Brogan tripled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
Greensburg scored four runs in the third inning. The Pirates big inning was driven by a single by Sam West and by Brett Stringer.

Brogan led Greensburg to victory on the hill. Brogan surrendered two runs on three hits over five innings, striking out eight and walking one. Brayson Newhart threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Jacob Mirick took the loss for North. Mirick went three innings, allowing eight runs on six hits and striking out five.

Noah Howell led The Chargers with two hits in three at-bats.

The Pirates saw the ball well today, racking up nine hits in the game. Mathews and Brogan each managed multiple hits for Greensburg. Mathews went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead The Pirates in hits.
