(Versailles, IN) – The Ripley County Area Plan Commission met to discuss the ordinance for industrial solar farms in the Courthouse Annex in Versailles last night.

The area plan commission took public comment and had a board discussion over the ordinance at this meeting.

Ripley County Surveyor Jeff French explained, “The next step [for the ordinance] is we will give our attorney direction to amend the ordinance that we reviewed tonight. He will bring that back to us within the next 30 days. We will likely have a public discussion at the next planning commission meeting in September. Although, that will likely not be open for public comment. Then, in October, we will have another hearing where we will take public comment and hopefully be able to send this off to commissioners.”

The amendments made to the ordinance included changes to the screening and adjustments to setback distances.

A copy of the ordinance draft will be available in the Ripley County Area Planning office once it is finished. Additionally, a copy of the draft will be published online.
