Challice (Chad) Bode, 97, of Holton passed away at 10p.m., Sunday, July 2, 2023 at the University of Louisville Hospital. She was born in Rush County on January 21, 1926, the daughter of Wyman and Esta Ensminger Edens. Survivors include one son Gayle (Donna) Pribble of North Vernon; two daughters Christy (Earnie) Patrick of Versailles and Lana Kay (Dave) Scoggins of Osgood; her son-in-law Douglas Tuley of Versailles; 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 19 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters Joy Slavin of North Vernon and Rosalie Hoover of Greenwood. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughters Rosemary Pribble and Wynona Lou Tuley, her brothers Wayne and Gayle Edens, and her sisters June Pribble, Vonda Hess, Joan Easter, and Geraldine Hillan. Mrs. Bode was a 1944 graduate of Holton High School. She was a former employee of US Shoe in Osgood and the Delaney Wood Heel factory in Versailles. Chad enjoyed being outside, doing word search puzzles, quilting, and sewing, especially making pajama bags. She was a member of the Holton Christian Church. Chad’s wishes were to be cremated and a celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, July 8 at 11a.m. at the Holton Christian church with her nephew James Adams and Pastor Bob McCreary officiating. Burial will follow in the Holton Cemetery. Visitation will also be at the church beginning at 10a.m.on Saturday. Memorials may be given to the Holton Christian Church in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles.
