Carson Schneider’s Big Day Propels Batesville Past The Trojans

Carson Schneider collected three hits in four at bats, as the Batesville Varsity Bulldogs defeated East Central 8-4 on Thursday. Schneider hit a solo home run to left field in the sixth inning, doubled in the fourth inning, and singled in the third inning.
A double by Vinny Keck put East Central on the board in the top of the fourth.
Batesville flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fourth, scoring five runs on five hits to take the lead, 5-1. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Schneider that drove in two.
The Bulldogs added to their lead with three runs in the sixth inning thanks to home runs by Schneider, Will Jaisle, and Carson Meyer.
Schneider earned the win for Batesville. The right-handed pitcher surrendered four hits and three runs (two earned) over three and one-third innings, striking out two and walking two. Meyer opened the game for Batesville. The starting pitcher gave up five hits and one run over three and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking two. Ryan Ott led things off on the mound for East Central. The right-handed pitcher allowed seven hits and five runs over four innings, striking out two and walking one.
Batesville amassed 11 hits in the game. Jaisle collected two hits for the Bulldogs in four at bats.
East Central accumulated nine hits in the game. Number nine hitter, Keck, showed the depth of the Trojan’s lineup, by leading them with three hits in four at bats. Joel Richter collected two hits for East Central in four at bats.
Batesville moves to 6-1 on the season and 4-0 in the EIAC as they welcome Franklin County on Monday for their next game.
