Carolyn C. Smith

Carolyn C. Smith, 75, of Aurora, Indiana, passed away Friday November 15, 2019 in Dillsboro, Indiana.

She was born July 25, 1944 in Hamilton, OH, daughter of the late Ellis VanWinkle and Dixie (Mosley) Van Winkle.

Carolyn worked as a waitress at the Tree House, Dearborn Country Club and cooked at Lollipops and Rainbows. Carolyn loved children. As a child she attended Wilmington Hills Wesleyan Church. Carolyn always took pride in her appearance. She enjoyed cooking for the family and was a good hostess, she always made sure that everyone was well fed. Christmas Eve dinner was her favorite. She would invite the entire family and prepare a feast. She enjoyed watching TV, especially ” Days of Our Lives”. Carolyn had a bit of a sarcastic sense of humor , she was affectionately known as the ‘Come Back Queen’. She enjoyed trips to Wal-mart, Kroger’s and Red Lobster. She also loved animals, especially her dogs, Angel & Daisy. She truly enjoyed being with people. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren, Tanner and Rylan. She truly was the glue that held the family together.

Carolyn is survived by her loving spouse of 42 years Michael Smith, daughters, Kimberly L. Smith, Sheri S. (Gary) Cluck, Patty A. Napier (Randy Lowe); grandchildren, Tanner Napier, Rylan Lowe; siblings, Earl (Jerlyn) Van Winkle of Madison, IN, Ernie (Stella) VanWinkle, and Joseph VanWinkle.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Ralph, Walter “Pud”, Jerry, Ellis “Rip”, and Virginia “Jenny” VanWinkle.

Friends will be received Tuesday, November 19, 2019, 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm at the Rullman Hunger Funeral Home, Aurora, Indiana.

Services will be held at 4:00 pm immediately following visitation, with Pastor Charlie Hill officiating.
