Carnell Short, age 87, Milan

Carnell Short, age 87, of Milan passed away Saturday, October 30, 2021. He was born on December 30, 1933, in Pippa Passes, KY a son to Curt and Alta Slone Short. On September 21, 1957, he married the love of his life Earnestine Bingham Short and began 64 years of marital bliss.

Carnell was a hard worker providing for his family, he made a career in construction and was a member of Laborers Local 741. Carnell enjoyed shooting guns, always ready to go to steel board shoots, taking road trips, helping others, and meeting people. It will always be known; he never met a stranger. Above all, Carnell loved spending time with his family more then anything. He always made sure his family was first in everything he did and will always be remembered and loved by them for his hard work and love.

Carnell is dearly loved, cherished, and will always be missed by 4 children, son-Devon (Betty) Short – Moores Hill, daughter-Darlene (Joe) Walters – Osgood, son-Robert (Sandy) Short – Batesville, daughter Paula (David) Hess – Sunman, 11-grandchildren; Jeremy Short, Christina Johnson, Shawn Short, Travis Walter, Shelbie Walter, Robbie Short, Ashley Pickett, David Hess, Matt Hess, and Darren Hess. 10-great-grandchildren; Kaylee Short, Cory Johnson, Chase Short, Rylee Pickett, Harper Pickett, Dillon Hess, Garet Hess, Grant Hess, Dean Hess, and Lily Hess. 6-sisters; Arlene Mundinger, Loraine Ernest, Racine Robinson, Ida Bischoff, Linda Gunter, and Marletta Green.

Carnell was proceeded in death by his parents-Curt and Alta Short, son-Randy Short, granddaughter- Shannon Short, brother-Dencil Short and 4 sisters: Areeda Calhoun, Una Faye Johnson, Corrine Hammond, and Ruby Spurlock.

Friends and family are invited to show love and support to the family, Thursday November 4, 2021, from 4 to 7 pm at Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home, Sunman. Funeral services will be Friday, November 5, 2021, 10 am at Little Memory Baptist Church, Sunman with Pastor Charlie Combs officiating. Burial will take place after service at Little Memory. All donations can be directed to the family payable to Earnestine Short.
