Carl Caudill passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at his home in Batesville. The son of Ettie & Byron Caudill was born in Letcher County, Kentucky on March 1, 1934. He was 90 years old.
Carl was a deeply dedicated husband & father. While serving in the Army, Carl introduced himself to the love of his life, his wife Testa through letters. Carl & Testa were married on December 23, 1954, their 70th wedding anniversary is this December. Carl & Testa had 8 children who are blessed to have Carl as a dad. He instilled in his children to work hard, earn what you work for & respect others. Carl was a fun dad, always with vacations to our grandparents every summer. He took us fishing & camping, especially at Corny’s pond! He was a jokester dad, from wrestling with his sons to joking in that father-daughter way with his girls, but at the same time teaching them to be tough. Dad’s love always showed overwhelmingly to his family. Carl was the greatest Papaw, and every one of his grandchildren considered themselves his favorite.
Carl was a very hard-working man so he could provide for his family. He worked at Hillenbrand’s Casket Company & retired after 40 years. Most of the time he would work from sun up to sun down!
One thing that everyone noticed about Carl was his smile, it showed his love. Every time he would greet you, you would get that smile. Carl was an outdoorsman, who loved being outside. He loved working in his garden which he shared with loved ones. He loved mowing grass & keeping his lawn looking good. He also loved the hard work of cutting down trees for our wood-burning furnace. Carl knew and accepted Jesus. He entered heaven saying he saw Jesus while exclaiming, “ hallelujah hallelujah!”
Carl is survived by his wife, Testa; sons: Greg (Valerie) Caudill, Larry (Nancy) Caudill, Wade Caudill, Keith (Beth) Caudill, Byron Caudill; daughters: Sherry (Steve) Davis, Christine (Sergio) Bellavia; daughter-in-law, Loretta Caudill; sisters: Imogene Caudill and Adeline Hampton; several great and great-great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by son, Jerry “Peanut” Caudill; brothers: Burnett, Harold, Burt, Bruce, Earl and Haskel Caudill; sisters: Beatrice, Elaine, and Jane Caudill.
