Carl A. Lamping

Carl Aloysius Lamping, age 83, passed away on January 17, 2025, at St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born on June 25, 1941, to John and Marie (Bedel) Lamping. On August 14, 1965, Carl married Donna (Black) Lamping at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greensburg. Carl honorably served his country as a member of the United States Army Reserves.

Carl had a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved farming, gardening, and working with his hands. Whether tending to the family farm in Oldenburg or to his rentals in Greensburg, he found great fulfillment in the rhythm of the land and the pride of always helping/providing for others. He enjoyed sharing stories with family & friends and those occasional games of Solo.

For 40 years, Carl enjoyed a fulfilling career at Hill-Rom, where he built enduring friendships and made a meaningful difference in the lives of those he worked with. His dedication, hard work, and genuine care for others were a source of great pride and joy throughout his time there.

Carl was a faithful Catholic, an active member of the St. Catherine of Siena parish, and devoted to his family. Known for his steady demeanor, he was always ready with a helping hand or kind word. He had a passion for putting others first, a fondness for Catholic TV, his rosary, classic western films, and an abiding love for time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Carl was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, Donna, in July of 2024. His unwavering love and devotion to her were evident throughout his life, and he expressed his longing to be reunited with her. In passing, Carl found peace in the hope of being together with Donna once again in the eternal embrace of God’s love.

Carl is survived by his daughters, Barb (Paul) Richardson of Milan and Karla (Gary) Schumacher of Elizabethtown; sons, Don (Beth) Lamping of Greensburg and Ron Lamping of Oldenburg; brothers Augie (Bernice) Lamping of Hamburg, IN, Cletus (Betty) Lamping of Batesville, and John (Carol) Lamping of Oldenburg; sister Irene (Buck) Meyer of Batesville; 14 grandchildren: Paul Jr., Tyler, Trevor, Dillon, Evan, Dallas, Brittany, Matthew, Hannah, Eric, Jonathan, Benjamin, Michael, and Clayton; five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Joseph, Jerry, Alphonse, and Francis Lamping; sisters Angela Demoret, Rose Mary Brancamp-Nobbe, and Bernadette Harpring; and granddaughter, Suprena.
