Cardinals Fall Short To Wildkats In Rematch

St. Louis 5th Grade Basketball team had a rematch against St. Mary’s North Vernon on Monday night at home losing 31-24.

St. Louis took an early lead and were winning (8-7) after the first quarter. St. Mary’s came back strong and outscored the Cardinals in the second quarter (14-2), ending the half (21-10) in favor of St. Mary’s. The Cardinals rallied back in the third quarter, outscoring the wildcats (7-2), but St. Mary’s was still up (23-17) at the end of the 3rd. The Cardinals just couldn’t get the points back in the fourth quarter and St. Mary’s  secured another win. Final Score St. Mary’s 31, St. Louis 24.

Jaiden Kuria lead the Cardinals with 12 points, followed by Caleb Mohr with 5 points, Tyler Reder with 4 points and Ben Greiwe with 3 points. It was a strong effort by the entire team. The Cardinals play again Thursday night at St. Louis.

In a rematch from last week, the Cardinals took on St. Mary’s North Vernon on Monday, October 29th.  Despite losing 29-13 the Cardinals did a great job of hustling and limited St. Mary’s leading scorer to 11 points after he scored 21 in last week’s game.

The Cardinals placed 6 players in the scoring column led by Christian Mack’s 4 points.  Other Cardinals scoring were Max Amberger, Sam Laloge, Ryan Duerstock, Henry Wanstrath, and Ben Miller.  Amberger led the team in rebounds with 5 followed by Laloge with 4.  Other Cardinals notching rebounds were Wanstrath, Duerstock, Sully Hill, Marc Meneses, and Adam Meer.  Giving great hustle, and defense were Zavier Tekulve, Santiago Schutte, and Max Richardson.

The Cardinals are back in action on Thursday, November 1st playing at home against St. Mary’s Greensburg.
