SUMMARY:11th Annual Food and Growers Conference
DESCRIPTION:The Food and Growers Association is hosting their annual winter conference on Saturday\, February 4 at Batesville Middle School. \nThis year’s theme is: “Local Food: A ‘Growing’ Revolution”. \nThe event will feature speakers and educational presentations on two “tracks”\, including lectures relevant to farmers/producers\, and another aimed at home gardeners and consumers. \nTopics will include: \n\nsmall farm profitability\nclosed-loop farming\nseason extension using high and low tunnels\nQ&A with experienced farmers\nfermentation\ncanning\ncheese-making\nmedicinal mushrooms\nwild edible foraging\n\nLunch will be provided as a “Taste of Southeast Indiana” from area restaurants\, using local ingredients. \nNew this year\, a children’s program for ages 3-10 will be available to the children of conference attendees. \nLocal food producers and other organizations will have booths in the vendor’s area/winter market\, which will be free and open to the public from 9-11am. \nCheck our website\, foodandgrowers.org\, for more information on speakers and schedule. \nPlease plan to register early through our Eventbrite page: https://fga-winter-conference.eventbrite.com\, by emailing: contact@foodandgrowers.org\, or calling 812-212-5432.
