From Coach Trenkamp. The Batesville Lady Dogs fell to Community Christian in 3 games tonight. We had a great momentum the first game and was able to pull out the win. Games 2 and 3 we just couldn’t figure out how to bounce back. We played with 6 girls only tonight and that was huge as it led to a new rotation being unsure of what to do. Scores were 16-25, 25-6 and 15-8.
From Coach Prickel. The JV volleyball team overcame a 9-2 deficit in game 1 vs. Lawrenceburg to pull off an exciting 25-21 win. The team went on to lose games 2 & 3. (25-16, 15-4) Kerigan Haskamp was the leading scorer with 7 points in a 9/10 performance from the service line. Other point getters were Nikki Fox (5 pts.) and Shelby Westerfeld (3 pts.) Katie Bedel pounded 7 kills in 19 attempts with Shalee Harrington and Haskamp chipping in with 3 kills a piece.
The varsity played some of the best volleyball they have played all season against conference rival Lawrenceburg, but were unable to sustain the level of play for the needed win. (25-16, 27-25, 25-21, 25-8)
‘We gave the tigers a battle for about 2.5 of 4 sets; it was great volleyball! Unfortunately we lost the serve/server receive game which is crucial to control if you want to pick up the “W”. They served us well picking on players who were showing visible signs of inner turmoil, for 13 aces in crucial moments. We did receive some great sparks from the bench with pull up players coming into tight moments to shine. #12 Katie Bedel had 4kills and a solo block, & #25 Nikki Fox came up with a reception , dig and kill. Other leaders were #23 Hattie Westerfeld with 13 kills and two blocks, #7 Kylie Laker with 3 aces and 12 digs, and #11 Jenna Ertel with 18 digs.’ Bulldogs Coach Jody Thomas.
We will have some needed rest and practice time to work out the kinks before hosting Rushville on Tuesday the 4th with a 5:30 JV start.
