The Batesville 8th Grade Boys Basketball Team pulled off a dramatic upset on Thursday night, defeating previously unbeaten Greendale 41-39 in overtime at home.
Trailing by as many as eight points in the first half, the Bulldogs refused to back down, in the final 15 minutes. Batesville used a 23-14 second-half surge to erase the deficit and force overtime, securing the win in a rematch of last year’s SEI Tournament Championship Game, which Greendale had won.
Isaiah Martin was electric, knocking down five three-pointers—four of them in the second half—and finishing with a game-high 17 points. Lane Higham and Hank Bohman each added seven points, with Bohman hitting clutch free throws to force overtime and Higham sinking the decisive game-winning jumper.
Deacon Fledderman contributed four points, while RJ Schuerman and Evan Ibold each connected from beyond the arc to round out the scoring.
With the victory, Batesville improves to 11-2 on the season. The Bulldogs will look to carry their momentum into next week’s road game at Columbus North on Tuesday.
