The Batesville Bulldogs had all cylinders firing on offense on Tuesday, winning big over The Lawrenceburg Tigers 11-2.
Batesville started the scoring in the third inning when Calvin Sherwood hit a home run. The Bulldogs added two more runs in the fourth inning.
The Bulldogs had a big fifth inning when they scored five runs. Trey Peters, Jack Grunkemeyer, Zach Wade, and Will Sherwood each had RBIs in the big inning.
Riley Zink (6-1) earned the victory on the mound for Batesville. The righty surrendered zero runs on two hits over six innings, striking out seven. Luke Wilson threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Nolen Vertz took the loss for The Tigers. The pitcher allowed eight hits and six runs over four innings, striking out one.
Batesville racked up 13 hits in the game. Peters, Grunkemeyer, and Sherwood each collected multiple hits to lead the Bulldogs. Peters led the Bulldogs with three hits in five at-bats.
The win is the twelfth in a row for the Bulldogs. With the win, the Bulldogs clinch at least a tie for first place for the EIAC regular-season title.
The Bulldogs look to clinch the season title this Thursday at Liberty Park against South Dearborn for Senior Night. The Bulldogs are now 18-4 overall with a 10-2 record in the EIAC.
