Bulldogs Freshman Basketball Results

The Batesville Freshman Boys team won a close game against East Central on Thursday. It was a low scoring game that saw both teams struggle to score. At the end of the 1st quarter it was all tied up 6-6. At halftime, the Bulldogs trailed the Trojans by 2, 16-14. The 3rd quarter is what made the difference, as Batesville held East Central to 0 points, while scoring 8 to give them a lead of 22-16 going into the 4th. While the Bulldogs were only able to score 2 points in the final period, they were still able to hold on for a 24-21 win.

Batesville was led by Sam Voegele with 8 points.

After East Central, the Bulldogs went on to face the Lawrenceburg Tigers, resulting in their first loss of the season. It was a very hard fought game. An early 1st quarter deficit really hurt the Bulldogs. They were down 9-2, but they managed to battle back and take the lead for a brief moment in the 3rd quarter. They were unable to keep the lead for very long. The Tigers outscored the Bulldogs in the 4th quarter, 13-9, for a final score of 42-39.

Batesville was led in scoring by Wil Freeland – 12, Mason Barker – 10, and Trey Peters – 9. The Bulldogs’ next game is Saturday, December 9th at Plainfield.
