Bulldogs Cross Country

The Batesville High School Cross Country teams traveled to Connersville to compete in the 14-team Sectional Meet this morning. It was a slight overcast with a chill in the air but the rain stayed away just long enough for both races.  The boys started the morning off as they stepped up to the line at 10:30.  They had all 7 of their runners place in the top 36 spots with 3 making the All-Sectional team, placing in the top 20.  Jacob Chapman led the dogs placing 5th, Isaac Trossman, 10th, and Cannon Clark 15th. Just missing out in the top 20 were Eli Loichinger and Deev Ranka, placing 24th and 25th respectively.  Finishing out the varsity 7 were Benjamin Adams, 32nd, and Ethan Rahschulte, 36th.  These finishes gave the Bulldogs a Sectional Runner-up place with 77 points behind Richmond High School with 40 points.  This qualifies the Dogs to advance to Regionals next week along with Northwestern (113 points), Hagerstown (133 points), and Rushville (133 points).

Although the girls placed their top 5 girls in the top 10 of the race, it still wasn’t good enough to beat the Trojans of East Central. They scored 25 points to Batesville’s 33.  Those ladies in the top 10 and earning All-Sectional honors were led by Kaylynn Bedel, placing 3rd, Lexyine Harris was 5th with Megan Allgier right behind her at 6th. The 9th and 10th spots were held by Samantha Adams and Bayleigh Demaree. Placing 26th was Charlotte Trossman and finishing out the varsity 7 was Ella Moster in 48th place. The other 3 teams advancing to Regionals are
Richmond (108 points), Centerville (116 points) and Rushville (143 points).

The Dogs will get a week to prepare for the Regional competition next Saturday at The Blue River Memorial Park in Shelbyville. This will determine who advances to the state competition.
The boy’s race begins at 10:30 and the girls at 11:15.
