Bulldogs Compete at 4-Way Meet at Greendale

The Batesville Middle School cross country team travelled to Greendale on Monday to compete in a 4-way meet against Greendale Middle School, East Central, and St. Lawrence. The heat and the steep levee did not deter our runners. The ladies were first to the start line with 8th grader Ava Wade leading the way. Ava was the meet champ crossing the finish line just ahead of Elia Wade who finished 2nd. Ana Shane was the next Bulldog across the finish line in 5th place, followed by Emmalynn Allgeier in 6th, Sydney Britton in 7th, Bailey Feldmann 9th, and Aubrey Weberding in 10th rounding out the varsity team. Additional runners earning top 20 ribbons were Audrey Dieckmann in 11th place, Annabel Eckstein in 16th, Myka Perry in 18th, and Alyssa Cummings 20th. The girls had an impressive low team score of 21 points while East Central was second with 43 and St. Lawrence was third with 73 points. Greendale was incomplete.

The boys also had some good finishes on the night.  The Bulldogs were led by seventh grader Cael Luhman, who placed 3rd overall, just seconds away from the lead runner from St. Lawrence.  Timothy Quillin was next across the finish line placing 7th, followed by Wyatt Essick in 11th, Coleman West in 12th, Luke Raver 15th, Duncan Fish 16th, and Miles Lawrence 17th for the varsity team.  Lucas Gadberry also had a top 20 finish crossing the line in 19th place and also earning a ribbon. The boys came up just short of a first place team finish with a score of 48, just two points behind Greendale who posted a winning total of 46.  East Central was third with 65 points and St. Lawrence was fourth with 78.
