The Boys and Girls XC teams traveled to Greensburg last night to compete in a 4-way meet with Batesville, Greensburg, South Decatur and North Decatur. Although chances of getting the meet in throughout the whole day didn’t look promising, the skies dried up and the sun actually came out right at start time bringing in lots of humidity.
Batesville split victories with Greensburg in both the team championship and individually. The Batesville boys took home first place by quite a margin scoring only 19 points to Greensburg’s 40, South Decatur 94 and North Decatur 103. The girls lost to Greensburg by just 2 points with Greensburg nudging them out 27-29 and North Decatur just beating South Decatur 91-96, taking 3rd and 4th. On the individual side, it was Batesville’s Ean Loichinger claiming the top spot finishing at 17:26 for the boys and Greensburg’s Brenner Hanna winning at 20:29. The top 20 individual places were given awards tonight and Batesville had quite a few earning a ribbon. In fact, the Bulldogs had 20 award winners altogether, 12 boys and 8 girls claiming the top 20 spots in their race.
For the Girls it was: Liz Loichinger-2nd, Lily Pinckley-3rd, Katie Olson-7th, Trysta Vierling-8th, Maria Lopez-9th, Sarah Ripperger-10th, Ava Ralston-15th, Britany Venis-20th.
The award winners for the boys were: Ean Loichinger-1st, Adam Moster-2nd, Josh Myers-4th, Benjamin Moster-5th, Dillon Murray-7th, Adam Hollowell-9th, Nathan Eckstein-10th, Charlie Laymon-15th, Luke Esser-16th, Nathan Villani-17th, Will Nuhring-18th and Daren Smith-19th.
