Bulldogs Capture Ripley County Track Crown

In the beginning of the day, it looked as though we might not be having this meet, but Mother Nature cooperated and the weather was turned out to be almost perfect for runners.  The Batesville Bulldogs hosted Milan, Jac-Cen-Del and South Ripley for the County meet Thursday night.  Both the girls and the boys got to raise that championship trophy tonight and it was truly a whole team effort.  The girls claimed 11 of the 16 events as the boys grabbed 8 to be crowned as Ripley County Champions.  Overall there were 27 new personal records for the night for the dogs!  Way to go!  Final scores were: Girls: Batesville-97, Milan-56, South Ripley-49 and JCD-32 and for the Boys: Batesville-92, Milan-65.5, JCD-51 and South Ripley-29.5.  There was also an individual girls and boys MVP honored for tonights meet.  This goes to the individual who scores the most points for the meet. I am proud to say that Batesville’s Stephanie Nobbe was name the girls overall Ripley County MVP-scoring 19.5 points.  Stephanie received a first place in every event she competed in, 100m dash (12.49), 200m dash (25.86), pole vault (8’0″) and she was the anchor on the 4 x 100m relay (52.08). Coming in a close second was Batesville’s Gabby Gibbs with 17.5.  On the boys side it the honor went to Milan’s Peyton Cavins with 14.5 points.  Congratulations Stephanie and Peyton!

Besides the 4 champion events Stephanie was in, the other Bulldogs crowned as Ripley County Champ were: Haylee Harmeyer-400m dash (62.06); Emma Gausman-800m run (2:31.12); Gabby Gibbs-high jump (4’10”) and shot put (30’1″); Taylor Rowlett-long jump (14’1″); Adam Moster-1600m run (4:58.41); JJ Kuisel-400m dash (53.2); Joseph Choi-300m hurdles (42.46); Quinten Gowdy-800m run (2:12.44); Joshua Myers-3200m run (10:28.03); Christopher Laymon-pole vault (9’6″); Both the girls and boys 4 x 800m relay-Haylee Harmeyer, Liz Loichinger, Britany Venis, Emma Gausman (10:44.66) and Joseph Choi, James Gosmeyer, Christopher Laymon, Quinten Gowdy (9:07.75); The girls 4 x 100m relay-Gabby Gibbs, Taylor Rowlett, Morgan Meyer and Stephanie Nobbe (52.08); Both the girls and boys 4 x 400m relay-Emma Gausman, Taylor Rowlett, Liz Loichinger, Haylee Harmeyer (4:29.75) and Joseph Choi, Isaac Barker, Quinten Gowdy, Zach Harmyer (3:39.28).

Taking 3rd for the night were: Roxi Hund-100m hurldes; Gavin Koester-100m dash; Dillon Murray-3200m run; Adam Bedel-discus and long jump.

4th place finishers go to: Morgan Meyer and Dawson Lipperd-100m dash; Britany Venis-800m run; Rebecca Deputy-discus; Ethan Grossman-400m dash; Gavin Koester-200m dash.

And finishing out the scoring spots in 5th place were: Katie Bohman-100m hurdles; Morgan Meyer-high jump; Sam Robben-110m hurdles; James Gosmeyer-1600m run.

As mentioned earlier, we had 27 individuals set personal bests tonight and they are: 100/110m hurdles-Roxi Hund and Sam Robben; 100m dash-Stephanie Nobbe; 200m dash-Stephanie Nobbe, Gabby Gibbs, Sam Bedel; 300m hurdles-Roxi Hund and Sam Robben; 400m dash-JJ Kuisel and Ethan Grossman; 800m run-Emma Gausman, Britany Venis, JJ Kuisel; 1600m run-Ava Ralston; 3200m run-Trysta Vielring; 4 x 800m splits-Britany Venis and James Gosmeyer; 4 x 400m splits-Isaac Barker; Girls 4 x 100m relay team(cutting a 2nd from their time…amazing what good handoffs can do!) Gabby Gibbs, Taylor Rowlett, Morgan Meyer, Stephanie Nobbe; Pole Vault-Jacob Weigel; High Jump-Gabby Gibbs; Long Jump-Taylor Rowlett, Morgan Meyer; Shot Put-Georgie Doll; Discus-Ben Kurtz and Rebecca Deputy.
