Bulldogs Capture Boys & Girls Cross Country Sectional Crowns-Many Area Teams & Individuals Regional Bound

The Batesville Bulldogs Cross Country teams repeat as Sectional Champs hosted by South Dearborn at Moores Hill. Amazingly, all 14 of Batesville’s Varsity runners were named to the All-Sectional Team by individually placing in the top 20 of each respective race.

Greensburg’s Brenner Hanna was the Girls Individual winner with a time of 19:03 as Batesville’s Ava Hanson was the sectional runner-up at 19:27.  Maria Lopez raced through at 19:50 claiming 4th, Sophie Myers was 7th (20:10), Lily Pinckley placed 8th (20:29), Megan Allgeier 9th (20:43), Madison Rahschulte 12th (21:06), and Trysta Vierling crossed the line in 13th place (21:24). This gave the Bulldogs a low score of 30 points. Joining the Lady Bulldogs to The Regionals are Greensburg claiming 2nd with 75, East Central captures 3rd with 77, and rounding out The Top 5 are South Ripley with 115, and the host Lady Knights with 117. 

The rest of the team results were Jac-Cen-Del 126, South Decatur 189, and North Decatur 190. Milan, South Ripley, and Lawrenceburg were incomplete.

Individually advancing to The Regionals are Cloey Simon, Kayla Simon, Lauren Dilk, and Kaytlin Sizemore from Jac-Cen-Del; Lucy Lillis and Renee Lillis from Milan; Jenna Walton and Addie Gauck from North Decatur; Kate Hamilton from South Decatur; and Anessa Schwartz from Lawrenceburg.

The Batesville Boys captured the first two spots with Benjamin Moster claiming the individual Sectional Champion title with a time of 16:21. Ean Loichinger was sectional runner-up with a time of 16:46.  Adam Hollowell finished in 6th (17:21), Eli Loichinger 8th (17:45), followed closely by Daren Smith in 10th (17:51), Will Nuhring 15th (18:04) with Nathan Villani chasing him in 17th (18:07). These finishes gave the boys a low score of 27 points with East Central placing 2nd at 67 points, Greensburg finished 3rd with 100, Rising Sun got 4th with 137, and claiming the 5th spot and advancing to Regionals is Oldenburg Academy with 149 points.

The rest of the team results were Jac-Cen-Del 156, South Ripley 180, Lawrenceburg 194, South Decatur 236, Milan 251, and North Decatur 274. South Dearborn was incomplete.

Individually qualifying for The Regionals were Ben Riehle and Ayden Potts from Milan; Josh Pohle and Damon Hughes from Jac-Cen-Del; Blake Volz, Nick Zigan, and Hayden Hooten from South Ripley; Trevor Newby from South Decatur; and Grant Hensley and Gabe Hensley from Lawrenceburg.

The Centerville Lady Bulldogs won the Girls Sectionals at Connersville with Rushville, Richmond, Hagerstown, and New Castle rounding out The Top 5 and moving on to The Regionals. Franklin County was 6th.

The Rushville Lions capture the Boys Sectional Title at Connersville while also going Regionals bound and making the Top 5 were Northeastern, New Castle, Hagerstown, and Centerville. Franklin County got 7th.

The Wildcats have 5 runners qualifying Regionals Bound including Lauren Kelley, Josie Selm, Ben Maze, Harmon Marshall, and Andrew Grant.

The Cross Country Regionals will be taking place on Saturday, October 17th at Franklin (South of Indy). The Wildcats will be at Rushville.
