The game started out with high energy and good directive communication. The Bulldogs fought for possession throughout most of the game. Rushville did a good job passing and connecting runs, but our defense held their line throughout the game. With 9 minutes 35 seconds on the clock, Salvador Blanco played a ball in near the 18 yard line and it was received by Michael Ripperger, who was able to loft the ball in right over the keeper. First half Batesville had 5 shots against Rushville’s 7 shots.
Second half went without another goal, but Batesville started possessing better than the first half. We outshot them 10 to 5 second half winning the game.
Batesville Boys Soccer competed at their first home game on Saturday against Franklin County winning 3-1.
The first goal came in 22.28 by Salvador Blanco who dribbled the ball in skillfully through their back line leaving a one on one chance against the keeper. The Bulldogs lead was short lived, just 2 minutes later FC scored from the middle inside our box. We held the tie until half time.
The Bulldogs started the second half with more intensity and purpose. Communication picked up and lead to more opportunities on goal. With 13.22 left on the clock Henry Lipinski took a free kick on their half that found the back of the net. The final goal of the game came with 58 seconds remaining. Michael Ripperger shot from the left side, the ball making it right to the goal line where Zach Harmeyer got a touch blasting it up into the goal.
