Bulldogs Boys Soccer Invitational Results

Batesville Boys soccer held the 2017 Invitational Saturday.

Batesville played the Seymour Owls in the second game of the tournament losing 2-0.

Seymour was a challenge for us and we knew going in that we would have to play well defensively and control the ball in order to compete with their speed and skill. 27.49 Seymour scored their first goal off of a diagonal ball played into the middle and the receiver slipped through the defense with a good shot over the keepers head. We held them 1-0 until half time. Second half at 33.07 Seymour put in a second goal to secure their lead. This time the ball was taken down the flank, beat his man, and passed into center for a one time volley into the back of the net. Seymour win 2-0.

The consolation game followed at 4:00pm against Centerville winning 7-1.

At 31.15 Michael Ripperger attacking their goal got his legs tangled in the box resulting in a Penalty Kick that he was able to bury into the back of the net out of keepers range. Centerville answered back quickly at 27.39 on a breakaway where our defense was caught too high to get back before the goal. Half time ended at 1-1 tie. Second half the Bulldogs pulled it together and out played their opponent. 39.05- Michael Ripperger beats his man down the right wing crosses ball across the goal post and bounces back into the netting. 35.15- Ian Yorn crosses the ball into the center, bouncing header from Michael Ripperger, and a volley finish from Garth Griffith. 32.27- Justin Puente hit a long ball from way out catching the keeper off guard. 31.47- Salvador Blanco dribbled the ball in and placed a low shot on frame. 27.25- Garth Griffith played a through ball in and Michael Ripperger took a one touch finish. 13.46 Calvin Sherwood scored the final goal of the match. Batesville wins 7-1.
