Bulldogs And Pirates Swimmers Battle It Out

The Batesville Bulldogs traveled to Greensburg Community High School to take on the Pirates in dual meet action.

“Today was an absolutely incredible meet, and it had little to do with the swimming,” said Coach Greg McMullen.

Due to the existing environment, the Pirates not only celebrated their own Seniors but also extended their senior night to recognize the Bulldogs’ six seniors: Ethan Brewer, Chase Cummings, Sonja Gaulin, Adam Hollowell, Paige Oldham, and Kali Wickersham.

“I’m humbled by the class shown by the Greensburg team to allow our student-athletes the opportunity to be recognized. This just shows the type of program Josh and Amy have built and the values that have been instilled by the community that is Greensburg swimming.”   “We’ve been told we may not be able to recognize our seniors in our traditional manner and to have this opportunity, I’m at a loss for words.”

As far as the meet results, the Lady Bulldogs fell to the host Lady Pirates while the Bulldogs were able to win 8 of the 11 contested events. Junior Maria Lopez was the lone event winner for the women’s team while Will Johnson was the leading scorer for the men, taking first in both of his individual events.
