Brush Fire Scorches Several Acres

(Dearborn County, IN) – Nearly 30 firefighters from several area departments battled a brush and wood fire Monday evening in the area of Grelle and Burke Benning roads in rural Dearborn County.

Firefighters had to deal with difficult terrain along with flames aided by high winds that scorched an estimated eight to nine acres.

Crews were able to contain the fire and prevent it from burning a cabin on the property.

Units remained on the scene until late Monday night controlling hot spots.

There were no injuries reported.

Responding agencies included the Friendship, Dillsboro, and Milan volunteer fire departments, Versailles Fire Rescue and Aurora Emergency Rescue Unit.
