Bruce Charles Fiscus, 77, Aurora

         Bruce Charles Fiscus was born on January 14, 1946, in Olney, Illinois to Charles Albert and Thelma Louise (Rudesill) Fiscus. He left this life on October 26, 2023, at home surrounded by family. He married the love of his life, Mary Jane (Neidigh) Fiscus on May 31, 1969, who survives. To this union they shared son Greg (Beth) Fiscus of McClenny, Florida and daughter Sarah (Scot) Boyer of Dillsboro, grandchildren Kendra Rosendo, Sydney (Robert) Parkey, Liam Fiscus, Carol Williams, and Dorothy Williams, great-granddaughter Emilia May Parkey, and many amazing friends.

He was a Vietnam Veteran enlisting in the Navy but serving in the Marines as a medical corpsman. After leaving the service, he graduated in 1974 from Eastern Illinois University, having a career as a lab tech running both North Vernon and Dearborn County labs. He retired from Viacord doing stem cell research. His passion in life was being a Volunteer Firefighter where he served as Fire Chief in both North Vernon and Dillsboro. He spent his retirement enjoying camping, woodturning, and being the Chairman of the Friends of the Versailles State Park where he became a Master Naturalist. He was also a member of the Dillsboro American Legion Northcutt-Laaker Post #292.

Family and friends may gather in remembering Bruce from 2:00-4:00 PM, Sunday, October 29, 2023 at the Filter-DeVries-Moore Funeral Home in Dillsboro. Military rites will be provided by Dillsboro American Legion Post #292 at 4:00 PM. Memorials may be given in honor of Bruce to the Friends of Versailles State Park.
