(Brookville, IN) – A woman who allegedly shot and killed her brother in Brookville early Thursday is behind bars.
Indiana State Police say around 1:40 a.m., the Brookville Police Department and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a person shot at Riverfront Apartments on Fairfield Avenue.
Upon arrival, first responders found 32-year-old Ronald W. Pence suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.
Despite police and EMS life-saving efforts, Ronald Pence was pronounced dead at the scene.
ISP says Ronald’s 29-year-old sister, Crystal L. Pence, was identified as the alleged shooter and taken into custody at the scene.
The preliminary investigation indicates Crystal shot Ronald in the apartment and stayed at the scene until police arrived.
She was charged on a preliminary count of felony Murder and is being held in the Franklin County Security Center.
The investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by detectives and crime scene investigators from the ISP Versailles Post.
Troopers were assisted by the Brookville Police Department, Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Letts EMS-Franklin County Paramedics, the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Franklin County Coroner’s Office.
