Brookville, In. — Main Street in Brookville has reopened after a $2.7 million makeover. North Vernon-based Dave O’Mara Contracting completed the project that included drainage, new sidewalks, pavement rehabilitation, signage, signals and lighting.
Members of Main Street Brookville, Indiana Inc. praised the management of the project. Superintendent Scott Works was the “point man” to keep businesses operating and complete the work on time. Works and project staff helped residents navigate a sometimes challenging and constantly changing worksite.
It was a pleasant ending for a project that started under a cloud of concern.
Before the project began a group of residents and business people raised serious questions to Indiana Department of Transportation officials and company representatives. That campaign included correspondence with state and local leaders plus the website savebrookville.org.
